Every year during the summer, field thistles (Cirsium arvense) unleash armies of volatile seeds that can be seen flying freely until they reach their destination.
In this installation, a computer generated thistle seed is lingering in mid air, with a camera slowly rotating around it. The video does not cut or stop, erasing the idea of a timeline to make the ephemeral feel eternal.
As the title suggests, this work fully embraces anthropomorphic projections, the Jungian school of psychoanalysis speaks of personal myth, or personal mythology, to describe an individual's "internal system of images, narratives, and emotions" S.Krippner.
Thus yes, just as freely as the thistle seed roams, our subconscious projects, connects, and tries to make sense of the outer world. In doing so, using a powerful poetic and symbolic language of its own, the subconscious enables us to see new trails of beauty and meaning.
